Breaking News: Wes Clark urging Hillary Clinton to quit

We've just been told that General Wesley Clark, a strong Clinton supporter and fellow Arkansan, called Hillary tonight to tell her it's over.

In addition to our source, the king of the pundits, Mark Halperin, drops a tantalizing hint that something might be up with Clark:
"The biggest question: Will any of her supporters (including Wes Clark) say publicly or privately she should quit?"
We like General Clark here at AMERICAblog, and have a bit of a history with him. So we hope what we're hearing is true. But the general better watch it - this could be his most dangerous mission to date. When you take on the Clintons, the sniper fire is real.

And Hillary's campaign is so broke... (none / 0)

... that Wolfson just admitted Hillary "lent" her campaign $6.4 million in April.

It is so over, baby.

Hillary's campaign now is a vanity campaign.

It's not about the Country any more.

Re: Breaking News: Wes Clark urging Hillary Clinto (2.00 / 1)

does it matter? Obama will be the nominee no need to force things, I would prefer she stay till PR and use that time to just TOTALLY rip into McCain and help Obama reunite the party.

we have alot of damn work to do, whether or not both sides unite is whether or not a Democrat takes the white house.

Congratulations to Barack Obama, the presumptive Presumptive Democratic Nominee

Re: Breaking News: Wes Clark urging Hillary Clinto (none / 0)

I think Clark may be a frontfrunner for VP...because of his support for Clinton.  So it matters to that extent

really? is he that popular enough?

what states does he help? because with Obama's new Map I think he should bring on a VP that helps with Ohio or Florida as insurance.

Re: Breaking News: Wes Clark urging Hillary Clinto (none / 0)

General Clark is on the short list for Obama's VP.

He has an incredible resume and clout.

General Wes Clark has been and always will be a Clinton loyalist.  The connections go back to Arkansas.

What he brings with him are Clinton core holdouts, over-65's, white males, military vets, and it effectively counters the "patriotism" issues.

He may even carry Arkansas in the general (and in the general that may be all that matters).

If I had to make a prediction right now, I'd say Barack Obama is going to be the next president.

He is too much of a runt (none / 0)

For a while I thought he was important because of the military thing, but in reality, he's too wimpy to ring as military.

Re: He is too much of a runt (none / 0)

Webb costs us a senator from a red state that we might not get back in the forseeable future.

Better to go with someone who won't make it harder to pass legislation.

Re: He is too much of a runt (none / 0)

Webb has for years left in his Senate Term.
His replacement will be appointed by Gov Kaine, who may appoint himself.

Re: He is too much of a runt (none / 0)

Yeah, I understand that.

I just don't like the idea of moving someone with a fairly solid lock on a red-state senate seat out to try and improve the electoral calculations for a race we're likely to win anyway.  Better to keep him in place and find someone else, a governor or such.

Re: He is too much of a runt (none / 0)

Upon further research, Kaine would be replaced by a Republican so its probably not a good idea for him to nominate himself.
I still like the idea of a Virginian on the ticket, it would put VA/NC in play.
Too bad Mark is also running for the senate this year.

You had better do deeper research (none / 0)

if that's your opinion of Wes Clark. His chops go beyond the "military thing" (as you so artlessly and condescendingly put it). You can start at Wikipedia (don't miss the Notes at the bottom) but don't stop there.

A "runt"? Really? {rolling eyes}

Re: Breaking News: Wes Clark urging Hillary Clinto (none / 0)

CW is the Obama will have to take a Clinton supporter...many also thinks he needs somebody from the military.  Clark seems to be the perfect match.

Re: Breaking News: (none / 0)

I love clark but he would be an awful VP and even with him on the ticket we still lose AR. And he really wasnt a very good candidate.

The VP has to do one of two things.  Win a state that would otherwise go to the GOP (think Gore and TN in 1992) or brings in a huge demographic that the candidate on the top of the ticket has issues with (think LBJ in 1960).

Re: Breaking News: (none / 0)

Have you ever heard the phase when women vote democrats win.  Clark will not bring in enough men and Most military vets will go McCain. And he is really bad and attacking and that is the VP's primary job in the GE.

Dont get me wrong i think Clark rocks but right now BO is stuck at 260 electoral votes (based on Gore's states).  He needs 9 to win.  I would rather see him take our senator from CO than Clark.

Re: Breaking News: (none / 0)

For the record, no one who actually thinks "Clark rocks" would appallingly and wrongly attack him as you've done in these two comments.

Clark would make a fine VP. Webb would be decent but people need to realize that outside of Iraq, his foreign policy instincts are much more conservative than the mainstream of the Democratic party, and it's   doubtful he could survive a vetting process.

I think he would be wasted as VP (none / 0)

and I've said as much many times during this loooong campaign. His talents, brains and expertise would serve us better as National Security Advisor or something along those lines.

Here is new news...

*DRUDGE EXCLUSIVE 8:59 EM ET*: Senator Clinton has made another multi-million dollar loan to her campaign. She gave $6.4M in the past month and will be giving more... Developing...

how she campaigns in the next weeks will tell whether she actually cares about the Democratic party or wants to run again in 2012.
